But Richard Kim of The Nation points out in an excellent article:
"It's a sign of how much we have conceded to the religious right that almost nobody asked why there should be an invocation at all."
Secularism! That's what this nation was supposed to be founded on, but we've moved so far away from. Why should the President of the United States have to be sworn in on a Bible? Should we need any sort of religious ceremony for the highest office in the land?
As the great Stephen Colbert might word it, separation of church and state, please!
